Rimlex 620 Blue

RIMLEX 620 BLUE

Rimlex® 620B is a soft single part, heat cure, polyurethane resin system. It has been specifically designed for use as a compression seal. It should be applied to one side of the mating components surface and allowed to cure before assembly. Clamping the two components together compresses the sealant and therefore effects a seal. 620B has excellent chemical resistance to most automotive oils, fuels, antifreeze and transmission fluids. The material will function in temperatures up to 150oc*

Rimlex® 620B (Blue) has been specifically designed for use as a pre-applied gasket type system for sealing rivets, threaded plugs and bolts (fastener applications) and for use in potting electronic components.

The system incorporates a unique material which is a flexible organic based product (approximately 50 Shore ‘A’), that can replace ‘O’ rings, copper or aluminium washers and other more expensive sealing washers.

Rimlex 600 Yellow

RIMLEX 600 YELLOW

Rimlex® 600Y is a two-part epoxy-based resin system. It has been specifically designed for use as a compression seal. It should be applied to one side of the mating components surface and allowed to cure prior to assembly. Clamping the two components together compresses the sealant and therefore effects a seal.
Rimlex® 600Y has excellent chemical resistance to most automotive oils, fuels, anti-freeze and transmission fluids.

Specifically designed for use as a re-usable pre-applied gasket type system for sealing threaded plugs and bolts. This system is a two-part material that cures to give a more densely crosslinked material than 620B and may be more suitable for high-pressure applications, or a tough adhesive up to 150oc

Rimlex 310 Dark Red

RIMLEX 310 RED

Rimlex® 310 dark red is a Room Temperature Vulcanising (RTV) silicone sealant which has been specifically developed for high-temperature applications. Once applied the compound reacts with atmospheric moisture to form a tough and durable rubber seal. It has excellent adhesion to metals, glass, ceramics and plastics. The compound has large gap filling properties which makes it ideal for application to non-machined surfaces and even as cast surfaces.

Rimlex 310 is a general purpose adhesive sealant with many applications in building, engineering and the automotive industry. It has excellent adhesion without a primer to metals, glass, ceramics and most rigid plastics. The cured compound is resistant to weathering, ageing, many solvents, oil, water and lubricants. Its excellent thermal stability means it can be used for sealing and bonding at temperatures up to 300°C and for gasketing up to 350°C depending on the application. It is ideal for use as a flexible gasket or flange sealant in automotive and general engineering applications.

Rimlex Uses

Rimlex® products are flexible, organic based materials, used to replace copper, aluminium and other more expensive sealing washers. The material is suitable for use for electronic potting, as an adhesive in raised temperature environments and as a low slump form-in-place gasket material.

Rimlex fasteners

Rimlex is a peripheral seal, which can be applied to the underhead bearing surfaces of bespoke fasteners, screws and C class components. When components are assembled, the material is forced into any gaps between mating surfaces to form a robust seal. Different grades of the material exhibit various properties, but fuel, oil, brake fluid and antifreeze resistant sealants are available. Some varieties exhibit excellent re-use capabilities, and even when under torsional pressure, will seal after 12 or more re-uses. In most cases, Rimlex does not significantly alter the torque-tension characteristics of threaded components. Visual and dimensional checks can be made using either laser or visual measurement equipment. The height and positional accuracy can be measured automatically at a number of points on the bead profile to an accuracy of 0.001mm.

The interface geometry of mating components is critical to correct functioning and reuse of the Rimlex seal. The mating hole, as a minimum, should be burr free, chamfered and/or engineered to ensure Rimlex material is not stripped or cut away during installation. In most cases an SAE J2244-1 (ISO 6149-1) hole form is suitable.

To meet torque/tension requirements, the Rimlex seal coefficient of friction can be modified with the addition of materials such as TT15®.

Rimlex Plated Fasteners

Rimlex products can be readily applied to most electroplated finishes as well as aluminium, brass, stainless steel and organic coatings. Some room temperature cure materials are suitable for GRP(glass reinforced plastic) and plastics. Rimlex® products can be readily applied to most corrosion protection finishes, non-ferrous components and some plastic materials. They are especially suitable for sealing rivets, rivet/clench nuts and similar flanged tubes for use on enclosures, tanks, body in white and final trim applications. They can be applied via conventional pressurized or positive displacement systems via X/Y coordinate robotic dispersing equipment or via suitable hand operated systems.

All Rimlex® applications require end-user testing to make sure product and application are suitable; for torsional applications, an additional torque modifying topcoat is normally recommended.
